    On his latest EP, Merc Yes creates a melting pot of global bass music. Hypnotic, yet playful and even a little cartoonish, ‘Ooh You’re Like The Sun’ is grounded in bass heavy post disco while venturing into its own unique directions. Drawing on elements including Chicago juke, Jersey Club, Lisbon’s baile funk and afro pop, he never gets too far from his home town’s classic NY house foundation. This record is as weird and as dance floor ready as it wants to be. Turning Charlie Brown’s teacher’s voice into a vocal hook, chopping up classic dancehall vocals, or just exploring new textures and atmospheres, Merc Yes throws it all on the table all the while reminding us to move our bodies and celebrate the ridiculous.
